Summer Dress in Winter

Dress: H&M
 Boots: Lavish Alice

Everyone has a dress they bring back out every summer, for me it's this floral midi dress from h&m. It might be winter but i'm not ready to give up this dress just yet. I've jumped on the whole gold trend and picked up these boots from Lavish Alice. They're the perfect heel height for a day to night transition heel. I've bought a couple of new pairs of shoes this month, but i'm really temped to add another to my collection and pick up these beauties what do you think?

Going Ginger

I've always been envious of people with naturally ginger hair; it's such a beautiful colour. A few years ago I dyed my hair every shade of red imaginable but could never find the perfect shade; so last weekend while browsing boots when I spotted L'Oreal Feria Colour Mango Intense Copper I couldn't resist. It was the perfect shade of orange/red.

I'm so glad I decided to dye my hair again, what do you think? Are you braving a new colour for winter?

My Autumn Lookbook | casual style

Today i managed to rope my boyfriend into filming a video for me, it's something a little different and my first attempt at filming a lookbook type video. It would be great to get some feed back so let me know what you think!

If you like the video don't forget to go over and subscribe to my channel, I have lots of exciting videos planned for the next few weeks!

Sundress and Sunglasses

Dress: Tesco, Bag: Asos, Shoes: Dorothy Perkins, Sunglasses: Primark

I love this dress, It's another piece I picked up when I won a competition via Twitter. It's really light and perfect for summer. The bow on the back is really cute, just make sure you apply lots of sun cream when you where it; I wore factor 50 and still managed to burn!

I'm going to start posing some lifestyle posts up alongside my fashion posts soon, I have lots of ideas I've been meaning to post for a while. The posts will probably be similar to my bullying post,  Why having a penis pays 10% more and You're too skinny. Are there any issues you would like me to discuss?

I'm really excited to start posting these types of posts more, I really enjoy writing them!

The Great Gatsby

Image and video hosting by TinyPic       Dress: Vintage from my mums wardrobe, Shoes: New Look, Necklace: Forever Dreaming

Something a little different today, I'm sure you have all seen the trailer for The Great Gatsby movie even if you haven't seen the film. I'm a big fan of the era and the pretty dresses so decided to use the movie and decade as my inspiration for today's post!

My mums had this dress in her wardrobe for years and it's the perfect 20's flapper style dress, as soon as you put in on you can't help but move in it to make the tassels sway! I'll be honest I felt a little silly walking down the street in this but I had to show you the dress.

The Great Gatsby book locket is part of the new range for Forever Dreaming, there's also Alice in Wonderland, Pride and Prejudice, Cinderella and The Wizard of Oz book lockets in the range, all hand made!

Hope you enjoy the funny little gif!

Bright like the summer sun

Dress: Tesco, Shoes: Boohoo, Jacket: New Look, Bag: Asos

Another beach outfit for you all today! It's been so lovely enjoying the sun and finally getting some vitamin D! I've been so busy doing things for Forever Dreaming that I've neglected my blog.  I haven’t forgotten about it honest I have lots of ideas that I’m working on at the moment including a new layout and page that I think you might all enjoy.

I love this Dress from Tesco's, it reminds me of the sixties and looks perfect teamed with a beehive. I picked the dress up with the vouchers I won from Tesco’s 7 day style challenge. I've always been a fan of Tesco's clothes; you can pick up some amazing gems in there. Plus I can buy chocolate and clothes in the same place...win!

I think the 60's is becoming my favourite fashion era; although I’ll always have a love for the 40's.Whats your favourite era?

I do like to be beside the seaside...

Ahoy! This week i booked some time off work and headed down to the seaside with my boyfriend. It was a lovely couple of days spending time together and getting away from our home town. The weather was amazing so I got to get my pale legs out and wear my new summer skirt!

I was lucky enough to win one of Tesco's 7 day challenges on Twitter and receive £75 to spend on Tesco's clothing; I picked up this skirt and lots of other goodies that I'm sure you will be seeing soon! Tesco has some amazing summer pieces in at the moment.

I love the seaside (although I hate sand!), we spent 3 days eating lots of food from pancakes to chips, burgers and of course lots of ice-cream. We also took a trip to sea world as my boyfriend was clever enough to bring some buy one get one free vouchers with him! What do you think of my new friend?

I'm already planning another trip back to the seaside to buy myself some more chocolate kendal mint cake!

Buffy, Captain America and Me

Yes that's me in a cat suit with Buffy and Captain America! My mum got this drawing done as a present and I thought it was too good not to share with you.

Buffy and Captain America are two of my favourate fictional characters, who watched Avengers and didn't want to marry Captain America? He has that old school American charm that can make any girl swoon.

Its weird seeing myself as a drawing, I always wondered what I would look like if somebody drew me. Obviously this isn't my body, its my face on cat woman but you can probably tell that because I actually have boobs in this picture! I now know what I would look like with a decent cleavage.

The lady that drew this can draw you with any celebrity that you like, yes ladies (and gents) that does mean you can have a drawing of yourself and Ian Somerhalder!

You can have a look at Accidental Artistry's page here I think her work would make a great present or treat for yourself! The drawings have so much detail and I can't wait to frame mine.

If you could have a drawing of yourself and any celebrity who would it be?

Outfit of the day & a new car

Army jacket and maxi skirt outfit of the day

Jacket: Fashion Union, Jumper, Skirt and Shoes: New Look, Socks: Topshop

It's been far too long since my last post, I've missed blogging but I've been so busy and I'm tired all of the time lately. I am however full of motivation now and I really am back, and for good! You can't get rid of me that easily.

I took these pictures 2 weeks ago (see I didn't forget about you!), but wasn't really sure I liked them so didn't post them, however I want to start being a lot less critical of myself and my outfits. I think that's part of the reason I haven't been blogging, I just don't feel like I've looked good enough to take pictures and blog lately.

Since I last blogged I bought myself a car, I got a Citroen c3 in a lovely light blue and I love it! It’s the perfect little car for me. It’s used (I'm not made of money) but it’s now mine and I'm glad to finally have a car, although I hate driving it. I'm not a confident driver and I had a horrible panic attack at the thought of driving today. This morning I was full of confidence and decided I’d drive to work, it was the first time driving in the car on my own so I was nervous. It was rush hour and I had to drive on the Dual carriageway but it wasn't too bad and I made it in one piece. However being the anxious person I am I managed to convince myself that I couldn't drive home after work and that I was going to stall in the middle of the road and not be able to start the car again. I had a horrible panic attack and was stuck at work for half an hour after I finished because I couldn't bring myself to leave and drive home. Eventually I jumped into the car and the journey was fine, I don't know why I was being so silly!

Does anyone have any advice for a new driver?

On a side note who's watched Iron Man yet? I watched it on Monday and absolutely loved it!

dress and brogues

Jacket: New Look,  Dress: Primark, Brogues: Dorothy Perkins

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I keep making excuses but the truth is as most of you know I started a new job over a month ago and I am so tired most of the time! It's taking a lot of getting used to having a job where I actually use my brain.

This is another work outfit, although it’s rather smart I actually really like the dress and brogue combination. I wear heels to work a lot so it’s nice to have the occasional day wearing flats.

Some of you following me on twitter may already know but me and my mum have opened an online shop! It’s a Jewellery shop and most of the stock is handmade be either my mum or me. If you fancy having a look then head over to foreverdreaming.co.uk

And on another happy note I passed my driving test on Friday, so this week I am busy hunting for a car! Car shopping is actually really difficult it’s nothing like shoe shopping so I have a feeling its going to take me a while. Any advice for finding the perfect car?

Flared jeans and fur

Coat: Topshop, Jumper: NewLook, Jeans: Mango, Bag: Primark

I've had these flared jeans from Mango for months now but haven't really had the chance or confidence to wear them. I'm usually a skinny jeans kind of girl but it's nice to try something a little different.

I'm sure you have noticed from my recent outfit of the day blog posts that I have been wearing a lot of office clothes lately so its nice to just wear jeans at the weekend!

With my new job I finally have weekends off so I'm thinking about arranging a blogger meet up in the next few months somewhere in the midlands area. If this might interest you then leave me a comment below so I can see if enough people will be interested!

As I said in my last post I recently got a new job, I'm working in an office (as a digital marketing executive) so I've had to get used to wearing office clothes. It' taking a little bit of getting used to as I really like wearing jeans these days! But on the plus side I get to wear heels!

This is the type of outfit I have been wearing; I hope you don't mind me showing you my office outfit of the day. I know it's different to my usual style but it's all I’m wearing at the moment so it's the only thing I have to take outfit of the day photos of!

Have any of you posted any office outfits? I would love to see what you wear.

I also forgot to mention that I got a domain for my blog so you can now find me at www.tanesha-marie.com (although my old blogspot url will still get you here!)

Hello strangers it’s been a while! Sorry it’s been so long but my camera has been playing up so I haven't been able to take any outfit photos or film any videos, however I think I have sorted out the problem so fingers crossed.

I've been super busy since I lasted posted. I started a new job on the 6th of March so I’ve been busy going to London and Liverpool for meetings. So far I love my new job and it’s great to have a new challenge. It was also my birthday on the 12th :)

Hopefully I will be able to take some outfit posts during the week; I have to wear office clothes so prepare for something a little different!

I've missed blogging the last 2 weeks so I really hope my camera doesn't decide to go all weird on me again, stupid Jessops!

Cybercandy

Cyber candy review
Cyber Candy review

Never have I been so excited to get a parcel in the post, I have an incredibly sweet tooth and I love American candy so when Cybercandy asked me if I’d like to review one of their products I literally jumped at the chance.

I chose this amazing Chinese take-out box that was filled with American pick and mix. I'm not 100% sure how to review this because all I want to say is it was amazing and it all tasted so good (well all apart from the fire ball that set my mouth on fire, it was super-hot!)

My favourite thing in the box had to be the vanilla tootsies, black taffy and what I think was tootsie midgees. I loved the variation of different products; it was a great way to try a variety of different products that I've wanted to try. American candy is just so much tastier then English sweets!

I think this would make a great present and I'm probably going to buy one for my boyfriend and maybe his brothers for their birthdays. They’re such a unique little idea and I think it would be fun to buy as a present with some chopsticks.

Cybercandy also do loads of other sweets and tasty goodies from all over the world, I’m already planning on buying some Averys Passionfruit- lime soda, Razzles (if there good enough in 13 going on 30 there good enough for me!), and the Cybercandy Mystery parcel.

Has anyone tried anything from Cybercandy? I'd love to hear what your favourite candy/sweets are from all over the world!

Black Friday

Street style, leather trousers

Coat: River Island, Top: Topshop, Trousers: Topshop, Boots: Asos

I'm not sure how many of you are aware but today is Black Friday, today all South Africans are encouraged to wear black in order to raise awareness against rape in the country. South Africa has one of the highest rates of rape against women as a country with a study suggesting that 1 in 4 women in South Africa may fall victim to rape.

As I'm sure you’re aware I'm not from South Africa but I don't think that should stop people from raising awareness. It's tragic that in Interpol South Africa's rape capital it is said that a woman has more chance of getting raped then educated.

Sorry if me writing a different type of post offends you or disappoints you in some way but some issues are worth raising awareness about.

"You're too skinny"

O dear where have I been, I am so sorry I completely disappeared for 2 weeks I've just been beyond busy working on some super exciting things. I hope you will agree that its worth me not blogging for two weeks once I reveal the big surprise.

There is a clue at this Facebook page here: Creative Crafts that I have been helping out with. So if you are a crafter, DIY fanatic or have your own shop/blog shop go over and like it! There will hopefully be a craft fair in a few months so it will be a great chance for some of you to sell the things you make without even leaving your house!

OK so on to the actual purpose of this blog post...

Recently someone had the cheek to say to me “You’re too skinny, you need to eat more." YES they actually said this to my face. I was obviously rather offended by this, I'm not sure how the comment was intended or how I was supposed to take it but I certainly didn't take it well.

I have always been slim, I am just a naturally slim person yet people have always commented on my weight over the years. Why do people think it’s acceptable? If I commented on someone’s weight and asked them "Why are you so big, why don't you eat less?" all of you would probably agree that would be wrong. But for some reason society thinks it’s OK to comment on your weight if you are slim.

When I was at school I vividly remember having to weigh ourselves at the front of the class, it was a science class and I think we had to work out what we would weigh in space (I can’t remember exactly but It was something along those lines). When it came to my turn I stood on the scales and the teacher just looked at me made me get off and then get back on the scales as if somehow this would change what they said. She then commented saying "O your small" as if I didn't already know that. I hit puberty late so I was short, shapeless and invisible in school. I was in a class where I had no friends as it was and here she was giving them something else to laugh at me for. Thanks for that.

Over a year ago I went to the doctors because I had been being sick for the last few weeks, I've had problems with feeling sick for a while now but I was going through a weird patch of being sick in the night for a few weeks. I obviously went to the doctors (for the 100th time) and the doctor who wasn't my usual doctor asked me in a rude tone "you don't have an eating disorder do you?" I would like to clarify I was being sick not making myself sick and for starters this doctor won’t be receiving any awards for her sensitivity, what if I did have an eating disorder (I don't) she certainly didn't approach the issue in the right way. I left the doctors annoyed, frustrated and with morning sickness tablets; yes the ones they give to pregnant people even though I wasn't pregnant.

I have since found out that I probably have an intolerance to a type of food and that's what makes me ill, and if the doctor I visited had actually weighed me she would have noticed that I have been the exact same weight for the last few years.

Recently a friend told me something that actually angered me, you know in cartoons where their heads go bright red and steam comes out of their ears? Well that was me. A particular clothing store aimed towards curvier ladies won’t hire you if you are what they consider 'too slim' and can't fit into their clothes (they start at a size 14). Now part of me understands this as they want people that can advertise their clothes however as far as I’m concerned this is discrimination. Would it be OK if it was the other way round? I could be wrong but I don't think it would be. I can't imagine a shop like New Look saying to someone directly 'I'm sorry but your too fat to fit into our clothes so you can’t work here' yet this shop that I won’t name (I don't want them coming after me with pitchforks) directly said to someone I know "I'd hire you if you were bigger and could fit into our clothes."

This really angers me, in fact to the point I have considered applying for a job just to see what they would say to me. Don't worry I reeled myself back, I'm no undercover reporter (although that would be an awesome job).

So the purpose of this blog post is to say ‘skinny’ people and ‘fat’ people (I hate both of those terms) are the same. Neither generally likes having their weight commented on.

Rant over
