MAC Pro Longwear Foundation Review

I'm pale, with odd yellowish skin, spotty and have a combination of dry and oily skin. So finding the perfect foundation can be tricky. My ideal foundation stays matte in the rights areas but also leaves me with a dewy glow and somehow transforms me into a Victorias Secret model. Is that too much to ask for? probably.

I bought the MAC Pro Longwear foundation a few weeks ago on a bit of a whim. I needed a new foundation and the sales lady was very good at her job, so 2 minutes later I was handing over my card and the rest is history.

Application

For Application I would have originally given this a gruesome 2/5 stars. It's difficult to apply and clings in all of the wrong places. But this morning i stumbled upon a miracle in the form of a damp beauty blender sponge, I've used a sponge before but never damp. O boy does this make a difference. It's so easy and took no more than 30 seconds to cover my whole face and blend!

4/5 because nobody's perfect.

Colour

I've never got on well with the colour choices from MAC (I know, I know why was I even at the counter?). But with a lot of blending the colour is ok... just a little dark to start with!

2/5 Because without some serious blending i'd look like an umpa lumpa

Formula

The formula feels slightly sticky when you use your hands to apply. Maybe a little gel like? I'm not a fan of the formula or texture until i whip out the damn beauty blender... then the fomula was fine.

2/5 The beauty blender means I don't have to touch it but my face still feels slightly sticky straight after application

 Staying Power

Now this is the tuff part, nothing every stays put. Everything creases around my smile lines... if only i could stop smiling! I get creases under my eyes and everything completely disappears from around my nose.

This lasts until lunch before I need to powder my nose, and then it can last from morning until about 7pm.

3/5 my oily face should probably take some of the blame.

Overall verdict

Would I but it again? Probably not. Not because it was bad, but the hunt for the perfect foundation continues.

  1. I've only ever tried Studio Fix from MAC. I did consider this one before, but probably need to be matched up properly. xx

    1. It's always good to be matched up properly, I've wasted far to much money on bad shades of foundation! x

  3. There's nothing worse than a foundation you have to top up on - ideally you just want to put it on in the morning and forget about it! It's interesting because I've been pretty happy with the ProLongwear MAC Concealer - but then again different skin types do react differently. I have yellow undertones too, and Smashbox's Liquid Halo Foundation is really good at catering to that, it's just difficult to find a Smashbox counter!
